A GUIDE TO LOWELL PTA
Welcome to the Lowell PTA website. Feel free to browse around and familiarize yourself with all of the things our PTA does for our staff, parents and most of all our students.
How are funds raised and spent at Lowell? How much is raised and how much is spent? If you are interested please read on.
The two major fundraisers for Lowell school are the wrapping paper (offered in the fall) and the silent auction and raffle at Jamboree. Part of the money you spend on these fundraisers (50% for wrapping paper and 100% for silent auction and raffle, minus operating expenses) go directly to our PTA funds. The two fundraisers on average provide our PTA with approximately $18,000 a year. General Mills labels and Cooks’ Night Out also provide some funds for our PTA (for specifics see our budget on the bulletin board in the hallway).
Where does all the money go? The Lowell PTA provides:
| Edman Chapel | Get Smart with Art | Character Counts program and assemblies |
| DARE Graduation | Back to School Social | Kickoff Coffee |
| Lowell Beautification | Star Newspaper | Star Reading |
| Teacher Appreciation | Volunteer Luncheon | American Education Week |
| Parent Speaker Night | Reflections | Scholarship |
| Snowflurry | Lowell Mentors | Lowell School Directory |
| Discovery Day | PRC food Drive |
The Lowell PTA Cultural Arts provides approximately 4 assemblies a year for our children such as:
- The Legend of ISAT
- Child’s Play
- Wheel of Wisdom
- The Science Guy
- The Poetry Guy
- Dr. King An Educated Man
We sponsor an author each year and this year we funded the family reading night. In addition the Lowell PTA provides the CAPP Program offered through the YMCA to help keep our children safe and a Handicap Awareness program for some of our children. The Lowell PTA also sponsors band, orchestra, bell choir, patrols, chess club, student government, and the summer reading and writing clubs.
The Lowell PTA helps to sponsor Picture Day, Yearbook, and Spirit Wear. As parents you pay cost for all of the items. These are not fundraisers for our PTA; they are services that our PTA helps enable us to offer.
The Lowell PTA meetings are where all of these decisions are made. We know that we cannot accommodate everybody’s schedule, but if from time to time you can take an hour a month to attend a meeting, the more PTA members present the more we can truly represent the majority of our PTA. If you cannot attend our meetings but have some ideas or thoughts as to how to enhance our PTA please contact any one of the PTA Committee members.
