Update – Preview The Program - Lowell Trivia Night 2012

Have you registered for the exciting Lowell Trivia Night? Join the most successful PTA Social and “FUN”draising Event! Trivia Night includes teams of 8-10 people participating in friendly competition by answering sets of Trivia Questions. It’s a fun, social time with Neighbors, Lowell Parents and Our Amazing Staff.  The table with the highest score at the end of the evening WINS PRIZES (and bragging rights)! The price below includes table reservations and game entry. Held in conjunction with the Silent Auction, these events are sure to make for an exciting and memorable evening!

DATE:  Saturday, January 21st, 2012
TIME:  6:00pm-10:00pm
PLACE: American Legion, Wheaton Post, 1N150 Gary Ave.
COST:  $15 per Person OR $120 for a Table of up to 10 Players

MAKE THIS A FUN & MEMORABLE EVENING! Each team can choose a THEME if they would like. For example, dress as the Desperate Housewives or your Favorite Sports Team! Best dressed theme/table will receive a PRIZE! And, don’t forget your Snacks and Table Decorations! Be Creative!

Drinks will be sold by the American Legion at a Cash Bar.

Trivia Night Registration Form

Raz-Kids.com features a wide variety of interactive e-books and quizzes that have been designed to provide engaging reading and listening exercises for children. Students can listen to books read aloud, read with vocabulary and pronunciation support, and read without support. After listening and reading the book, students will take a quiz to earn points. These points can be redeemed to build a planet on RAZ Rocket.

The Raz-Kids.com program will begin January 23, 2012 and run through May 25, 2012. Students can read & listen to Raz-Kids books, take quizzes, and spend time on RAZ Rocket at home, or any place that has computers with Internet access—like the public library.

In addition, the Lowell Library Learning Center (LLC) will be made available to registered students during lunch/recess and/or after school on Thursdays as follows: (Volunteers needed for student assistance-see form below)

• AM and PM Kindergarten (with adult): 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. or after school from 3:30 – 4:15 p.m.
• Grades 3 & 5: 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. or after school from 3:30 – 4:15 p.m.
• Grades 1, 2 & 4: 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. or after school from 3:30 – 4:15 p.m.

Here’s how the program works, your child:

• Logs onto http://www.raz-kids.com/ (each registered student receives a log-in card).
• Selects one of 15-25 books on his/her assigned reading level, (27 levels).
• Listens to book read aloud, reads book aloud, then takes comprehension quiz.
• Earns points to spend building their own planet on the built in RAZ ROCKET.
• Automatically advances to next reading level upon completion.

*Further program details will be sent home to each registered student with their welcome packet.

Raz-Kids.com is funded and coordinated by the PTA.

We are able to give our kids this program only through our volunteer efforts. We are in need of volunteers to assist the students with the computers and quiz taking from 11:40 a.m. – 1:10 p.m. and after school from 3:25 – 4:15 p.m. This is a great opportunity to work with children at all grade levels. Please consider volunteering your time during a short and easy shift. You can even bring younger siblings along with you.
